With the 14th February upon us, we thought it was definitely worth revisting Valentines Mansion, which got a brief mention here last year! Located in Ilford the house was built in 1696 for Lady Tillotson, whose husband had been the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Between 1906 and 1994 the building was owned by Ilford Borough Council and used as council offices. Since then it has undergone extensive restoration to restore its former glory, including the gardens with its formal walled garden, kitchen garden and rose garden.

The mansion now hosts weddings, has a full diary of events and a cafe which is open daily.
