Alternative Christmas Shows

A couple of weeks ago, we welcomed in the panto season, but what if you fancy something a little different this holiday season?

Well, the first place to go is Hidden London favourite, Wilton’s Music Hall for Mrs Hudson’s Christmas Corker, a twist on the tales of Sherlock Holmes, set as it is in the kitchen of 221B Baker Street.  Written by Bob and Barry Cryer, it promises plenty of silliness and tasteless humour!  On now until 31st December.

Winters Tales at Shakespeare’s Globe will feature classic stories told by candlelight.  Amongst the actors performing will be Harriet Walter reading Daphne du Maurier, Roger Allam reading D H Lawrence and Penelope Wilton reading Chekhov.  Various dates between 21st December and 5th January.

The Royal Opera House has a magical selection of works on over December and January, including Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland alongside ZooNation’s wacky alternative take on the characters, The Mad Hatter’s Tea Party.  Various dates.
