Where is this?

Where is this gorgeous building clad in London’s signature Portland Stone, with some beautiful sgraffito elevations?

Well, it used to be the St Paul’s Cathedral choir boys school, home to the boy choristers who sing the daily services in St Paul’s Cathedral.  These days it’s a YHA youth hostel and thus open for anyone to stay there!  Hidden in the winding streets close to St Paul’s, the address is 36 Carter Lane EC4V 5AB.

  1. I walked past this yesterday and sad to say the design is peeling off badly – the YHA needs to do some preservation or this won’t last much longer.

    • Thanks Tony, it is sad to see the design isn’t surviving well. I’ve passed your comments on to the YHA, and hopefully they’ll take action!
